Description

Malabrigo Mohair is a lace-weight base that with 210 metres has a generous length. If you are looking to add just a touch of warmth to your projects, Mohair is a great choice. If you pair the colors just right, you will find the most unique marled fabric. From texture, airiness, and depth of color, this is the base you never knew you needed but won’t be able to live without!

Malabrigo sources the mohair for this base in South Africa, from a bio-diversity-friendly, clean and ethically compliant mill.

Great for: Lace, shawls, scarves, lightweight garments. Works well double-stranded for accessories, garments, color-work and combined with other yarns!

Malabrigo Mohair Colour Notes

Be sure to get enough yarn to complete your project since each bag is a different dye lot, and skeins may vary from bag to bag. Skeins may vary one from the other even within the same bag. To ensure random color distribution, work from two balls of yarn at once, alternating a few rows from each ball. Malabrigo uses the same formula to dye their yarn each time, but assigns every batch of yarn a different dye lot number. The differences from one dye lot to another can be very subtle, or extremely noticeable, specially on variegated yarns.

Malabrigo Mohair Patterns

Valentina Bognadova’s Ondas Blouse combines Malabrigo Mohair and Malabrigo Mechita for a breathtaking result. It is seamless with lacework on the yoke, knitted top-down.

The Kinetic Cowl by Erin Gates combines Malabrigo Mohair with Malabrigo Rios for a stunning cabled Moebius-strip cowl.

The Seashore Fade Shawl is a shawl you can wrap yourself up in. Use multiple colours to create the fade effect.
