Shipping to the USA is no longer suspended

The shipping issue has been resolved. We are preserving our explanation of the issue here.

Hello USA friends, this is the kind of message we were really hoping we’d never have to write. (And if you do not order from the USA, you can ignore it.)

Here’s the tl;dr summary: If you are American and want Zealana yarn, we have suspended shipments to the USA until further notice.

Here’s the slightly longer version:

We love our American customers, but unfortunately we can no longer ship there. Here’s why.

On 31 July, the US government suspended the “de minimis exemption” — i.e., allowing us to send low-value parcels to the US for free without US receivers having to pay a tariff on it. Unfortunately, as of 29 August, that rule goes into effect, and if we send you a package, you will have to pay a tariff before you receive it. (Tariffs are paid by the recipient. Yes, we know, it stinks.)

Here’s the problem: there is a lack of clarity around how the international postage service will be able to implement the changes, and as a result, NZ Post has suspended all parcel postage to the USA. They are looking into options to enable the postal service to meet the requirements, and at the same time, we are looking into alternatives to post that aren’t prohibitively expensive. Until such time as we can access a suitable shipping service, we are unfortunately unable to ship to the USA at all.

We know this is deeply frustrating. We very much hope this is temporary, and we hope we can ship to you again soon.
