Urth Yarns | Patina Scarflette Kit

NZ$64.50 inc GST

Scarflettes, quick little scarfs to throw around your neck, are incredibly popular at the moment, and this one ticks all the boxes: interesting stitch texture, some fluff, rich colours, and able to be styled up and down.

This small triangular scarf has a wavy rib texture, with an optional pull-through detail, or make the version without the slit and tuck the tails into themselves. Two slit openings create the pull-through detail, for a decorative fastening option – the stitches are divided into 3 sections, each worked separately in pattern, then joined again to finish the decrease section. Instructions for a version without the openings are also provided. A simple rib stitch is offset to create the wavy texture on the right side and a woven basketweave-like texture on the wrong side. This makes the scarf fully reversible, with neat edges created by selvedge stitches. It is worked from point to point, increasing and decreasing along the right hand side.

The scarf is worked holding a strand of fingering weight merino and a variegated silk mohair together, which gives a soft watercolor effect that works with but doesn’t obscure the delightful crisp geometry of the rib patterns. And of course, if the variegated yarns don’t speak to you, choose a coordinating solid mohair instead.
