Urth Yarns | Mini Mahalle Toe Up Sock Pattern PDF Download

“Mahalle” (ma-ha-lay) means “neighborhood” in Turkish. This traditional toe up sock has been knit in Turkish families for generations, taught to children from the time they can first manage the 4 to 5 double-pointed needles used. These simple socks are knit in the round from the toe up using a traditional Turkish Figure 8 Cast On. The foot is knit in the round, in stockinette stitch. The heel is turned using short rows, the leg stitches are picked up afterwards and the sock is finished with a 2×2 rib.

What You Need to Make Mini Mahalle Toe Up Socks

• Urth Yarn Uneek Sock Mini Kit
• 2.25 mm/US 1 needles in your choice of tool for small circumference knitting (eg double pointed needles, magic loop, or flyers)
• scissors
• darning needle to weave in ends

This pattern is especially designed to work with Urth Yarns Uneek Sock Mini Kit. These kits are smaller and have shorter lengths in each self-striping section, to help make stripes that are more proportional to small bodies. You can make up to three pairs of socks with one Uneek Sock Mini Kit, depending on the sizes you knit.
