HiyaHiya | Octopus Snips

HiyaHiya’s original Octopus Snips are handy little tools which measure only 48 mm long when closed and come with an attached key chain and cap to keep the snips safe. They are spring loaded to make snipping easier. They’re also very sharp so that your yarn cuts right through. Snip away all day and minimize hand fatigue. Perfect to tuck into your notions pouch!

If you’re new to knitting or crochet, snips are a little different to scissors or shears. Scissors and shears both have finger holes to make it easier to cut larger things. Because snips are meant to just snip a piece of thread or yarn, they have no finger holes. Instead, you squeeze them at the blades in order to snip the thread or yarn at hand.

Shanghai knitter and pattern designer Qianer Huang founded HiyaHiya. She struggled to find the tools that met her exacting standards. With the help of her father and brother, both engineers, they were able to make the world’s first interchangeable straight needle.
