Description

A wonderful alternative to kidsilk/mohair yarns! Hedgehog Fibres are known for their lovely colours. But they had so many customers share that not everyone can tolerate mohair. But even those who can’t handle mohair want a yarn with a lofty, fluffy texture and look. From every problem comes opportunity, and Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Bouclé was born! And Beata herself told us in our interview with her that this is her very favourite base!

This delightful Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Boucle is 66% alpaca and 34% silk, with delicate tiny boucles, which creates a yarn that is a great substitute for any mohair lace, whether used alone or as a carry-along yarn.

Similar to their Kidsilk Lace base, this yarn is fluffy and has a brushed look when knitted, however this one does not shed! The tiny loops hold fast the fibres and keep them attached.

Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Bouclé Patterns

Jacqui Verbeek’s Sugar Rush shawl knitting pattern combines this with Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn for dramatic stripes and eye-catching texture.

The inimitable Stephen West designed the ornate Jigshawl Puzzle, which combines Hedgehog Fibres Alpaca Boucé with Skinny Singles for a great look.

A Note on Colours

Our photos are provided by Hedgehog Fibres. Where photos are available on Alpaca Boucle we have used those, but otherwise we have used Sock Yarn. Note that Sock Yarn takes up the colour differently so these photos are indicative. Hedgehog Fibres are all hand dyed and even when dyed at the same time there can be significant variation between skeins.
