With one pattern make four different beanies, in two different yarn weights! This simple and cute pattern has two options for the brim (garter stitch or rolled edge) and two options for the crown (flat, or with a stalk). Combine as you prefer for a total of four different designs. Knit in a single colour, or add some variety by using two colours and striping your hats.

The pattern is also designed to work with either 4 ply/fingering weight or 8 ply/dk/double knit yarn, given you a total of eight different beanies, with sizing options for infant, child, and adult.  This makes this a wonderful choice for charity knitters, or for making gifts when you suddenly find yourself with a long list of impending babies in your life to knit for.

What You Need to Make Beanie 4 Ways

• 1 – 2 x 50 g ball of Broadway Yarns NZ Merino DK or Broadway Yarns NZ Baby Merino, or 1 x 50 g ball of any suitable 4 ply/fingering or 8 ply/dk/double knit yarn
  • Baby and child is 1 x 50 g ball, or 1 x 50 g ball for each colour if working stripes
  • Small or large adult is 1 x 50 g ball, or 1 x 50 g ball for each colour if working stripes
• Needles suitable to the weight of yarn you have chosen
  • For 4ply: 3mm needles, in your preference of needle style for working in the round (eg 40cm circular, or double pointed needles)
  • For 8ply: 4mm needles, in your preference of needle style for working in the round (eg 40cm circular, or double pointed needles)
