Description
Make your meticulously hand-knitted socks go the extra distance and embrace mending, using the Bohin wooden darning egg. When inserted into the toe or heel of your sock, the darning egg will hold it in the proper shape, giving you a great foundation on which to work your repairs. Measures 7cm in length.
P.S. We are told that you can also put this in your hen’s nest to convince it to lay an egg. We haven’t tried it ourselves but let us know if you have any success!
Why We Love the Bohin Wooden Darning Egg
Darning eggs were a reliable tool used by our ancestors to repair knitted fabrics. This egg by Bohin is well made, smooth, and fits well in your hand. The wood is warm and comforting. With the various curves around the egg, you will always find the right shape for what you are working on.
Tools to Pair With the Bohin Wooden Darning Egg
To darn items, you need both a darning egg and darning needles. Two options are:
- KnitPro Teal Darning Needles: these come in a lovely natural wood case that will pair well with the darning egg
- Hiyahiya Darn It Yarn Darning Needles: the crooked tip makes these especially easy to use when darning
