Blacker Yarns | Samite DK (Limited Edition)
Price range: NZ$60.00 through NZ$69.00 inc GST
Samite Silk Blend pays homage to the Legend of King Arthur and his royal court of knights. Our woollen-spun blend of silk and wool is named for samite, which was once a luxurious and heavy twill-type woven silk fabric worn in the Middle Ages, which often including gold or silver thread. To make this, Blacker Yarns blended smooth drapey Blue-Faced Leicester, with the bouncy froth of Shetland and added guilt-free luxurious recycled silk. The combination of pale and dark fibres creates a yarn with glorious depth of colour and delicate nepps of silk. Because it is woollen spun, Samite retains the characteristic bounce of Shetland, and is more durable than the standard silk blend, making it ideal for colour work, cables and texture.
The full colour palette was inspired by some of the characters from the Arthurian Legend and includes one natural shade in light grey and seven dyed shades. This exclusive limited-edition collection was relaunched recently as a very special limited edition birthday yarn and is available only while existing stocks last.
