The Dust Bunny Cardigan by Beata Jezek of Hedgehog Fibres is a great knit option for those looking for a lightweight cardigan. I’ve never made a lightweight cardigan before, so I was pleasantly surprised that a size large could be made in 115g! I used the recommended yarn for this pattern, the Hedgehog Fibres alpaca boucle, which highlights the boucle with the many colours throughout. I had never knit with a boucle yarn before and found the boucle caught a lot when I first started knitting, but this reduced once I got used to knitting with it.

I followed the instructions fully for this pattern, but I definitely feel you could modify it to your liking, such as a longer body or wider collar. One trick I used with this pattern was casting off in a needle one size larger. I have a tendency to cast off too tight, so using a slightly larger needle ensured I did not end with a tight finish.

I feel that this pattern could be made by a confident beginner. If you are able to knit, purl, and do m1L/m1R stitches, this cardigan will be a lovely addition to your wardrobe. As a lightweight piece, it’s perfect for autumn through to spring!
