Sea Breeze Cover-Up
By Katerina designed this fun, flirty beach cover-up after people raved about a pattern she had created for a child’s top. If you’re looking for a pattern that’s a bit of a challenge, the Sea Breeze Cover-Up should be exactly what you want. Make them both if you want some parent-child matched looks! She uses a fingering weight yarn, and if you want to create a similar gradient effect we’d recommend the Urth Yarns Merino Gradient set.
Harbor Bay Beach Cover Pattern
The Harbor Bay Beach Cover is an extremely clever crochet cover up. It wraps around the body in a way that is designed to stay in place, no matter what. Crochetmylove Designs created it for a fingering weight yarn and we recommend Anzula Luster for its beautiful drape, glamorous shine and excellent stitch definition. (If you wish there was a knitted version of this pattern…well, just keep reading!

Are you just getting started with crochet and looking for something simple to make? Then the Easy Breezy Swim Cover by Megmade With Love is the perfect pattern for you! You can make it longer, shorter, and change it up in other ways, even if you’re a beginner. She recommends a worsted weight cotton for this, and what could be better than Wool and the Gang’s Shiny Happy Cotton yarn?
Island Beach Cover Up
This beautiful beginner-friendly pattern comes in a wide range of sizes and is simple to crochet. One tester reported she completed it in 4 hours. You can extend the length of the Island Beach Cover Up if you prefer maxi-length coverups. Designer Janine Myska says that some of her testers had great results using Lily Sugar ‘n Cream yarn for this pattern.
Long Summer Crochet Duster Pattern
This Long Summer duster pattern by Briana K Designs is also extremely size-inclusive and can go from brunch to the beach to the bar without missing a step. The core pattern is ankle-length, but you can change the length as you see fit. She recommends a fingering weight yarn and we think Manos del Uruguay’s Alegria would be just the thing.

Lakeside Beach Cover-Up Pattern
It looks like crochet…but it’s knitted! The Lakeside Beach Cover-Up pattern is a lacy, beginner-friendly creation that’s ready to wrap around you all summer long. Chantal Miyagishima worked very hard to create a truly unique stitch pattern that would be easy enough for beginners. It has the round flow and openwork of crochet, but using knitting techniques. It uses worsted weight yarn and for the beach we’d suggest a cotton yarn like Lily Sugar ‘n Cream.
Laguna Blue Beach Cover-Up Pattern
You may notice some similarities between this and the Harbor Bay Beach Cover-up Pattern in the crochet section. That’s because Crochetmylove Designs has created versions of this clever cover-up for both knitters and crocheters! The Laguna Blue Beach Cover-Up is made for the knitting crowd and uses fingering weight yarn. We’d recommend Malabrigo Mechita because of its reputation for making stitchwork extremely clear.
